I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been in private practice since 1991. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked in various outpatient and inpatient mental health settings. I have also provided consultation to mental health providers in outpatient care and clinicians and staff in residential facilities serving emotionally disturbed children.
While I have a general practice and have treated individuals, couples and families with a host of emotional and psychological issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, PTSD and relational issues, I specialize in the treatment of trauma.
I am a certified EMDR therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant. I am a faculty member with The Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy based in Washington, DC. In that role, I facilitate trainings conducted by the Center which provides Basic, Intermediate and Advanced trainings. In addition, I provide individual and group consultation for therapists learning the EMDR psychotherapy model.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I am committed to and passionate about improving the lives and relationships of those who suffer from the effects of both traumatic and emotionally and psychologically overwhelming experiences. These include sexual, physical and emotional abuse, neglect, complicated grief and loss, medical trauma, attachment wounds and ruptures, and relationship stress.
